Minutes of the meeting
The annual general meeting of Alcoa and Landsvirkjun's East Iceland Sustainability Initiative was held in Hotel Hérað, Egilsstaðir, on Friday, 27 April, 13:00 - 16:30. Approximately 40 people attended.
Addresses, presentations and a speech:
To start the meeting, Guðlaug Gísladóttir, employee of the Sustainability Initiative, introduced both the agenda and the meeting chair, who was Björn Ingimarsson, mayor of Fljótsdalshérað. The meeting was then formally opened by Ragna Árnadóttir, deputy CEO of Landsvirkjun.
After Guðlaug Gísladóttir had gone over the main measuring results of 2011, Georg Þór Pálsson continued on the same theme, showing for instance intriguing results on indicators 2.8, 2.29 and 2.30. The Initiative website was discussed by Geir Sigurpáll Hlöðversson, who subsequently turned the podium over to Janne Sigurðsson, who spoke on sustainability and the aluminium industry. Björgólfur Thorsteinsson presented a draft review about the Initiative that was prepared by Dr. Hörður Haraldsson.
The groups were asked to think about the possibilities of the Sustainability Initiative to lead to progress, as well as how the results could benefit society. The conclusions of the group work can be seen here. Guðlaug Gísladóttir adjourned the meeting soon after 16:00.

Group work addressed the further progress of the Sustainability Initiative, together with ways to utilise the results of sustainability measurements.
